Camp Policies & Procedures

General Information

Welcome to Crafty Nest Camps! To ensure a safe, fun, and creative experience for all campers, please review our camp policies and procedures carefully.

What to Bring

  • Please send your child in comfortable clothes that can get dirty. We dress for a mess at the Nest, not to impress!

  • Closed-toe shoes are required for safety.

  • Please make sure to pack a nut-free lunch, plenty of snacks and a water bottle. Please let us know of any food allergies on the registration form.

  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) for outdoor activities.

  • Label all belongings with your child’s name.

  • Please send hair ties for those with long hair.

Daily Schedule & Drop-Off/Pick-Up

  • Camp hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, unless otherwise noted.

  • Drop-off begins at 8:45 AM and pick-up is by 4:00 PM.

  • Please notify staff in advance if your child will be late or leaving early.

  • No supervision is provided before 8:45 AM or after 4:00 PM.

  • Outdoor Fun When weather permits, we will have an outdoor break at local parks or just going for a quick walk. There will be at least 2 teachers with the children at all times. We will stay within 1.5 kms from the studio.

  • Lunch + Snacks Campers are welcome to eat whenever they are hungry but there are two Snack Breaks and one Lunch Break each day.

Registration & Payment

  • All campers must be registered in advance through our website or by contacting us directly.

  • Payment is due at the time of registration to secure your spot.

  • No refunds are available; however, we can offer a credit toward a future camp if needed.

  • Sibling discounts and payment plans are available – please contact us for details.

  • If registering for multiple camps, let us know and we can provide a single registration and payment link for convenience.

Health & Safety

  • Campers should be in good health. Please notify us of any allergies, medications, or medical conditions.

  • If your child has any serious medical conditions, behavioural concerns please inform camp director (Lisa Arner) prior to camp.

  • If your child has an Epi-Pen, an Epi-Pen Authorization Form must be completed. Instructors will not administer prescriptions or over the counter medication.

  • Staff are trained in basic first aid and emergency procedures.

  • In case of injury or illness, parents will be contacted immediately.

  • Campers may not attend if sick to protect the health of all participants. Please inform us as soon as possible if your child will be absent. Make-up days are not guaranteed due to limited space.

Code of Conduct

All students, instructors, staff, and volunteers have the right to a positive and safe art experience.

The Crafty Nest Studio follows these 3 core values:

  • Respect yourself – being creative is important in fostering of self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-respect. It is important to stay safe and healthy following the instructions and safety protocols given by the instructors.

  • Respect others – treat others like you would like to be treated, including fellow students and their families or instructors, staff, and volunteers. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are shown through a positive display of respect around speech, action, and behaviour. Verbal or physical abuse, violence, harassment, racism, intimidation and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

  • Respect the environment – our studio, equipment, materials, and building hold exciting and valuable equipment that are available to our whole Crafty Nest family and need to be treated with the respect, care and safety by always following directions given by the instructor.

The Crafty Nest Studio is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and fun learning environment where students of all genders, ethnicities, abilities and skill levels can explore their creativity in the arts. We strive for a respectful atmosphere that is inclusive, and physically and emotionally safe. The instructors will evaluate any behaviour deemed inappropriate according to our core values will resolve the issues in the following manner:

Minor Incidents will be addressed at the time by the instructor.

Moderate Incidents (such as disruptive behaviour, refusal to participate, not following safety protocols) The student may be removed from the group to discuss the incident with a senior staff and the parent/guardian will be informed.

Major Incidents (such as dangerous or inappropriate behaviour, deliberate and constant disruption, verbal or physical abuse) Severe behaviours that endanger or are purposefully harmful may result contacting the parent/guardian for immediate dismissal. No refunds or credits will be issued for anyone sent home for violating the Code of Conduct.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund will be provided if:

  • The class is cancelled due to low enrolment

  • If there are road closures or severe inclement weather (class will be cancelled and makeup dates will be scheduled). Winter classes will typically go on as scheduled despite the presence of snow.

  • No price adjustments, makeup classes, or credits will be provided for missed sessions.
